[Our Mission]

 

Kitsap Adventures, KitsapAdventures.Com and Great Summer Adventures are part of Building Kitsap Families, Inc., a 501(3)c non-profit company, dedicated to encouraging and strengthening families on the Kitsap and Olympic Peninsula.

 

Building Kitsap Families, Inc. (BKF) has been helping families in Kitsap County since 1995. It is an innovative, proven program that provides parents with practical tools and community support so their children will grow and succeed. The program applies to pre-school children through high school, all income levels and nationalities. The program links together parents, children, local businesses, schools, and community, military and religious organizations and promotes a culture of responsibility and support for nurturing the family.

 

BKF provides family workshops, slide presentations, publishes and provides practical local activities: encourages better family communication, teaches parenting skills and builds a sense of community within the Kitsap Peninsula.

OUR MISSION AS A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION IS TO STRENGTHEN FAMILIES BY PROVIDING QUALITY PARENTING PROGRAMS WITH EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES IN COLLABORATION WITH LOCAL BUSINESSES AND SCHOOLS. BUILDING KITSAP FAMILIES DELIVERS PRACTICAL INFORMATION AND SERVICES TO COMMUNITY, MILITARY AND RELIGIOUS ORGANIZATIONS.

BKF Goals:

  • Strengthening the family unit.
  • Suggesting educational and practical ways to enhance brain development for the first three years of life.
  • Creating links between community members, organizations, businesses and families.
  • Encouraging positive and safe activities for teens.
  • Scheduling workshops to provide practical ways for families to create better communication skills and positive memories.
  • Providing different ways for accessing information for local resources.
  • Implementing creative low-cost summer activities via Great Summer Adventure Treasure Hunt.
  • Providing a resource guide Great Adventures for Kitsap Peninsula and other publications to the community.

 

BKF has provided presentations for K.A.EY.C. (Kitsap Association for the Education of Young Children). Parent Super Saturday throughout the C.K.Community Schools, Project Family – P.I.P. (Parent Infant Program), Head Start ChildCare Connections, Military Wives Groups, PTAs, Homeschool and Faith Based Organizations. BKF supports Kitsap County organizations such as the Kitsap Regional Library, KC Commission on Children and Youth, Kitsap County School Districts and Parent Organizations, Kitsap County Consolidated Housing Authority, Bremerton – Kitsap County Health District and the Parks and Recreational Departments of Kitsap County.
